Azure Spike Succulent

This short leaf succulent grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall. The perforated stem is yellow, and is covered in lots of flexible copper spines. The knobbly leaves are either turquoise, or azure with black dots. Thick bunches of them grow on narrow, orange-yellow or pink branches that are short stubs. The leaves are light, but detach easily.

It is steady-growing, taking 12 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are caramel on the underside and white on the top grows at the top, reappearing once every 8 years. The flower head is largely flat with 50 raised round-tipped petals. It has a soft scent that smells like ashes.

The leaf succulent's skin is extremely thick, the magenta flesh is soft, and the purple sap is thin.
