Blueberry Yucca

This giant shrub grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall and lives for around 87 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has many branched, wavy stems covered in ridged, brown bark, and the wood inside is yellow-brown.

The branches trail down to the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of huge, thin, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are lilac on the sides and orange at the center, light and sticky.

In mid-spring it produces a handful of small, silver blossoms with asymmetrical petals. They detach easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like cherry.

In midwinter small broad, flat fruits ripen. The waxy sky blue skin is thin and edible when cooked; it is bitter, and the soft lilac flesh is sweet and very dry. The hazel seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.
