Bloodvine

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 24 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a long and flexible, wonky trunk covered in fine, waxy, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pale brown-grey.

The branches are long and thin and are covered with large amounts of tiny, perforated leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are blood red and aquamarine.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of small, sky blue blossoms with teardrop-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have a mildly strong scent that smells like cotton.

In late autumn it produces , slender, 4 pointed fruit. The sticky olive skin is delicate and inedible, and the crunchy grey flesh is sweet and sour and very juicy. The blood red seeds are small and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
