Blueberry Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 17 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in thin, rough, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the dense wood is black.

The branches are short stubs and are covered with handfuls of miniature, wispy leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid subtle purple with caramel lines.

In early spring, it produces a handful of giant, azure blossoms with wide petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have an intense scent that smells like cotton.

In late autumn it produces , spherical fruit. The waxy blue skin is tough and inedible, and the slightly crunchy grey flesh is spicy and juicy. The white seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
