Bloodvine

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 37 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a slender, twisting trunk covered in knobbly, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the very dense wood is white with black speckles.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small amounts of tiny, very thick leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in blood red, lime and violet varieties.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of giant, indigo blossoms with finger-like petals. They are very delicate and have a delicate scent that smells like alcohol.

In late summer it produces large, triangular fruit. The waxy pastel yellow skin is thin and inedible, and the very soft grey flesh is bitter and salty and syrupy. The orange seeds are large and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.

It is difficult to cut through.
The stems are covered in large spikes.
