Black Starflower

This average-sized flower grows up to 1.1 feet (33 cm) tall. Its black stems grow in bunches of 8 and are thick and straight, and the miniature, gray-green leaves are slender, pointed with toothed edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Around 80 small flowers grow in bunches along the stem. The flowers are 18 cm (7.1 inches) wide, with petals that are pastel yellow at the sides and cyan at the center. The flower head is shaped like a star with 32 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. They are sturdy.

It has a delicate scent that smells like burning wood, and it has lots of pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator.
