Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its stem)

This colossal flower grows up to 12.9 feet (3.9 meters) tall. Its brown stem is very thin, and the giant, yellow-green leaves are thick with irregular edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Each stem splits 5 to 9 times; a single small flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 27 cm (10.6 inches) wide, with solid bronze petals decorated with orange lines and a violet central disk. The flower head is shaped like a heart with 39 raised, round-tipped petals. They are sturdy.

It has a delicate scent that smells like garlic, and it has an average amount of pollen. It is a self-pollinator, but is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
