Coppervine

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This large shrub grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 157 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many wide, straight stems covered in thick, rough, mahogany-coloured bark, and the wood inside is copper-coloured.

The branches trail down across the ground that and are covered with very large amounts of giant, asymmetrical, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are green and lime, flexible and sticky.

In mid-summer it produces a handful of small, gold blossoms with circular petals. They are very delicate and have a soft scent that smells like a damp log.

In early autumn finger-like fruits ripen. The soft violet skin is tough and sweet and savoury, and the crunchy cyan flesh is sweet and sticky. The caramel seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.
