Lilacbell

Shrub type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This average-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for around 33 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many thick, curved stems covered in thin, smooth, silver bark, and the wood inside is pale brown-grey.

The branches are long, thin and wispy with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of huge, wide, leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are dark brown with lilac tips, sturdy and fuzzy.

In late spring it produces a thick sheet of small, lilac blossoms with many layers of petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a soft scent that smells like freshly baked bread.

In midwinter small long, curved fruits ripen. The leathery lilac skin is thin and inedible, and the crunchy green flesh is bitter and sticky. The red seeds are large and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The entire plant is edible and the grains arevery sweet.
It is suitable for making strong rope
It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
It is difficult to cut through.
