Speckled

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 127 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous thick, slanted stems covered in smooth, white with black speckled bark, and the wood inside is burgundy-brown.

The branches are short and thin with dozens of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of huge, fan-like, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are ashy orange and peach, flimsy and soft.

It produces large amounts of small, red flowers with cylindrical petals. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like warm milk. In mid-autumn it forms medium-sizeddeep orange seed pods.

It can absorb up to 7 times its own weight in water.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
The grains are bitter, but very healthy and are suitable for boiling.
