Redwood

Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This giant tree grows up to 148 meters (485.6 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 147 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in wrinkled, brown and grey bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is yellow.

The tangled mess of branches trail down towards the ground, with thousands of twigs covered with copious amounts of large, red needles. The needles themselves are rigid.

In late summer it produces large, slate, tough-shelled seeds.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for making strong rope
The trunk and branches are covered in large spikes.
It is bio-luminescent.
