Mahogany

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 583 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, wavy trunk covered in wrinkled, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the soft wood is light brown.

The tangled mess of branches are short stubs and are covered with small bunches of rough, miniature, long, narrow leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are crimson and cream.

In early spring, it produces bunches of giant, grey blossoms with 4 shield-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a delicate scent that smells like perfume.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, light brown berries.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
