Cracked White Tree

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This small tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 271 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in delicate, cracked, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the very dense wood is pale brown.

The small clumps of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with large amounts of smooth, miniature, thick leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of red that gradient shifts to green at the top.

In early spring, it produces many bunches of small, brilliant red blossoms with slender, pointed petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a weak scent that smells like grass cuttings.

In late summer it forms tiny, violet berries.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
