This modest-sized creeper is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 29 feet (8.8 meters)0. It prefers to grow on man-made objects.

It takes 2 years for the dark brown and green stems to mature, by which point they often have a diameter of 4 inches (10 cm) and are hard and brittle.

The pleated, leathery leaves reach up to 1.1 feet (33 cm) in length. They are either azure or silver, with yellow streaks, and have smooth edges.

The bark, wood and leaves are edible.
The sap is hazel.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
