Climbing plant type: Bine (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This modest-sized bine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 48 feet (14.6 meters) and growing as high as 382 feet (116.4 meters).
It takes 18 months for the bronze and orange stems to mature, by which point they sometimes have a diameter of 3 inches (8 cm) and are thick and twisted.
The fan-like, smooth leaves reach up to 1.3 feet (38 cm) in length. They are washed-out orange and purple, and have tattered edges.
During late spring, the bine produces large amounts of average deep blue flowers.
