Aquamarine Succulent

This short leaf succulent grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall. The slender, pointed stem is hazel or green, and is covered in thick bunches of flexible olive spines. The smooth-edged, wispy leaves are generally aquamarine. Small amounts of them grow from the base in a loosely patterned way. The leaves are frail, and take little effort to detach.

It is slow growing, taking 25 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are orange on the edges and dark purple at the center, grow at the top, reappearing after 2 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of several petals in raised layers. It has a strong scent that smells like chocolate.

The leaf succulent's skin is extremely thick, the grey flesh is slimy, and the hazel sap is thin.
