Crimson Succulent

This small leaf succulent grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. The pleated stem is copper, and is covered in large amounts of flexible yellow spines. The rounded leaves are either vibrant red or peach, with indigo patches. Small amounts of them grow on slender, green branches that trail down towards the ground. The leaves are resistant, and are very difficult to pull away.

It is very slow growing, taking 24 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with each petal a slightly different shade of crimson grow at the top, reappearing after 5 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a heart made up of several widely spaced, round-tipped petals. It has a soft scent that smells like cheap aftershave.

The leaf succulent's skin is rock-hard, the copper flesh is smooth, and the pink sap is thin and can kill if consumed.
