Magenta Ashflower
Shrub type: Deciduous (Sheds its leaves in winter)This massive shrub grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall and lives for around 44 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has several very thick, twisting stems covered in delicate, cracked, dark green bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.
The branches trail down across the ground with dozens of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of tiny, pleated, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are intense green and magenta, sturdy and flexible and covered in fine hairs.
In mid-summer it produces many large, cream flowers with finger-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have the faintest scent that smells like ashes.
It is suitable for making strong rope
