Butterfly Blossom

This massive flower grows up to 13.8 feet (4.2 meters) tall. Its yellow stem is very thin and straight with a curved tip, and the giant, pink-red leaves are very thin with smooth edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Two medium-sized flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 56 cm (22.0 inches) wide, with alternating petals of magenta and muted blue, with a lilac central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 58 petals. They are sturdy.

It has a soft scent that smells like glue, and it has very little pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to butterflies.
