Spinecrest Succulent

This average-sized caudiciform grows up to 30 feet (9.1 meters) tall. The pleated stem is brown or turquoise, and is covered in thick sheets of rigid lime spines. It has a crooked, wide, orange trunk atop a flat block of ridged, exposed roots. The branches are slender and copper and trail down across the ground.

The irregular-edged, circular leaves are found in blood red and peach varieties. They are flexible, and are very difficult to pull away.

It is fast growing, taking 4 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with petals that are purple on the underside and dark brown on the top grow at the top, reappearing after 2 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of 19 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight sphere. It has a delicate scent that smells like a damp log.

The caudiciform's skin is rock-hard, the drab orange flesh is rubbery, and the sky blue sap is thin.
