Blackwood

Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)

This short tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives "forever", with many known specimens being tens of thousands of years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, twisting trunk covered in rough, black bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is yellow.

The branches are short, rigid and upright, with hundreds of twigs covered with handfuls of tiny, emerald needles. The needles themselves are resilient.

In late summer it produces giant, yellow seed pods.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.

It can flourish even in standing water.
It can grow in even the most barren lands.
It is suitable for making strong rope
