Turquoise Grapeflower

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.2 feet (36 cm) tall. Its red stem is very thick, and the large, brown leaves are needle-like with irregular edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

Dozens of large flowers grow in drooping bunches like grapes. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with turquoise petals and a yellow center. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 10 petals. They are very delicate.

It has a mildly strong scent that smells like meat, and it has an average amount of pollen. It is a self-pollinator.

It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
