Caramel

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 11 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has dozens of wide, wavy stems covered in very thick, knobbly, yellow-brown bark, and the wood inside is silver.

The branches are short, rigid and upright with dozens of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of miniature, V-shaped, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are caramel at the bottom and olive with red lines at the top, hardy and waxy.

In early summer it produces many medium-sized, hazel flowers with long, tapering petals. They fall easily and have a soft scent that smells like candle wax.
