This modest-sized creeper is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 47 feet (14.3 meters)0.

It takes 9 months for the caramel or cream stems to mature, by which point they can reach a diameter of 4 inches (10 cm) and are flat and wavy.

The long, narrow, leathery leaves reach up to 1.4 feet (43 cm) in length. They are silver on the edges and magenta at the center, and have rounded edges.

It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
