Crimson Amberflower

Flower type: Biennial (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This huge flower grows up to 7.8 feet (2.4 meters) tall. Its gray stems grow in bunches of 6 and are thin and straight, and the giant, silver leaves are very narrow and elongated with tattered edges. 27 leaves grow at the base of the stem.

1 to 5 medium-sized flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 60 cm (23.6 inches) wide, with petals that are crimson in the center, magenta in the middle and amber at the edges. The flower head is largely flat with handfuls of tightly layered round-tipped petals. They fall easily.

It has an intense scent that smells like warm milk, and it has a modest amount of pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by a small species of bird.

It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
