It takes 18 months for the yellow stems to mature, by which point they can reach a diameter of 3 inches (8 cm) and are smooth and rubbery.
The thick, smooth leaves reach up to 6 inches (15 cm) in length. They are generally sky blue, and have serrated edges.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
