Caramel Moss

This black or caramel moss is commonly found blanketing large areas On trees, In marshes, and In rainforests.
It is small, growing up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. It forms in thick clumps and they are slow to spread and grow, and is very flimsy; it takes a lot of damage when trodden on.
When mature, emerald spiral capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late autumn to release dozens of spores; it does not cause any allergic reactions.
