This emerald moss is commonly found growing in small clumps On trees, and In moorlands.
It is short, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in sparse patches and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is extremely frail.
When mature, emerald triangular capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release millions of spores; it does not cause any allergic reactions.

It comes in 34 varieties.
It is slightly resistant to fire damage.
The bark, wood and leaves are edible.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
