Conifruit

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 58 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a sturdy, wonky trunk covered in paper-thin, cracked, brown and grey bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pale brown.

The tangled mess of branches are very short and thin and are covered with large amounts of miniature, thick leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are either blue or hazel, with magenta lines.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of tiny, cyan blossoms with perforated petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like meat.

In late summer it produces small, oval fruit. The rubbery grey skin is stretchy and inedible, and the soft pale blue flesh is overwhelmingly sour and juicy. The gold seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
