Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in its leaves)This short flower grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. Its copper stem is thick and splits into 7 branching stems a quarter of the way up, and the small, gray leaves are dark grey on the underside and are needle-like with smooth edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.
A single large flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 5 cm (2.0 inches) wide, with solid pastel green petals and a hazel central disk. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight heart. They are very delicate.
It has an overpowering scent that smells like lavender, and it has a modest amount of pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind, but is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
It releases hallucinogenic smoke when burned.
