Copperleaf

This average-sized caudiciform grows up to 34 feet (10.4 meters) tall. The thin stem is pink-red, and is covered in handfuls of rigid hazel spines. The very thick, yellow trunk can grow to as much as 34 feet (10.4 meters) in diameter. Its slate branches trail down to the ground.

The irregular-edged, needle-like leaves are blood red at the bottom and lime with turquoise patches at the top. They are frail, and detach easily.

It is steady-growing, taking 3 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with each petal a slightly different shade of red, grow at the top, reappearing once every 2 years. The flower head is made up of several petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight cup. It has an overpowering scent that smells like lemon.

The caudiciform's skin is very thick, the white flesh is waxy, and the copper sap is thin and causes severe cramps if consumed.
