Aquamarine

This big fruit tree grows up to 31 feet (9.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 63 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, slanted trunk covered in hard, ridged, brown and grey bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is black.

The branches are very long and slender and are covered with small bunches of large, sickle shaped leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are aquamarine and grey.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of giant, aquamarine blossoms with broad, flat petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have an intense scent that smells like perfume.

In mid-summer it produces small, slender, 9 pointed fruit. The waxy silver skin is thick and spicy and sour, and the soft caramel flesh is salty and very dry. The crimson seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
