Turquoise Glowvine

Flower type: Perennial (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short flower grows up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. Its green stem is thin and splits into 9 branching stems halfway up, and the giant, pink-red leaves are very narrow and elongated with smooth edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

5 to 10 medium-sized flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with petals that are red on the underside and turquoise on the top. The flower head is shaped like a cube with 29 tightly layered, narrow petals. They are hardy.

It has a strong scent that smells like bonfire smoke, and it has a fair amount of pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is visited by a large variety of them.

It is bio-luminescent.
It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
