Bluefruit Tree

This colossal fruit tree grows up to 50 feet (15.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 26 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in knobbly, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the dense wood is black.

The excessive amount of branches are short stubs and are covered with handfuls of small, needle-like leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are orange-yellow with sky blue tips.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of medium-sized, grey blossoms with slender, pointed petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have an intense scent that smells like rotten eggs.

In mid-summer it produces small, fan-like fruit. The sticky purple skin is thick and sweet, and the soft red flesh is sweet and syrupy. The cream seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
