Bluebell Bush

Shrub type: Coniferous (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for around 61 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of sturdy, twisting stems covered in cracked, brown-green bark, and the wood inside is brown.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright that and are covered with copious amounts of large, thin, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are sky blue and green, rigid and crispy.

In mid-summer it produces thousands of giant, yellow blossoms with fan-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a soft scent that smells like fish.

In late autumn tiny asymmetrical fruits ripen. The smooth magenta skin is thin and inedible, and the very soft red flesh is sweet and sticky. The subtle green seeds are large and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
The sap causes severe allergic reactions.
It is slightly resistant to fire damage.
