Crimson Succulent

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This big leaf succulent grows up to 85 feet (25.9 meters) tall. The sickle shaped stem is beige, and is covered in brittle gold spines. The stocky leaves are found in washed-out orange and silver varieties. Small amounts of them grow on thick, pink-red branches that are tall, rigid and upright. The leaves are light, but take little effort to detach.

It is very slow growing, taking 4 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with petals that are bronze at the sides and crimson at the center, grow at the top, reappearing after 7 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals in raised layers. It has an overpowering scent that smells like candle wax.

The leaf succulent's skin is delicate, the subtle blue flesh is rough, and the slate sap is thin.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
