Crimsonvine

This short flower grows up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. Its hazel and bright orange stem is very thin and splits into 9 branching stems at the top, and the giant, yellow-green leaves are thick with jagged edges. The leaves grow from the base and are the same length as the stem.

Hundreds of tiny flowers grow in a bunch at the end of the stem. The flowers are 16 cm (6.3 inches) wide, with red petals that gradient shift to crimson on the outer edge. The central disk is brown. The flower head is largely flat with 34 raised round-tipped petals. They detach easily.

It has an overpowering scent that smells like rich perfume, and it has very little pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.
