Hazel Moss

This hazel or muted red moss is commonly found blanketing tiny areas On rotten logs, and On trees.
It is massive, growing up to 1.4 feet (43 cm) tall. It forms in thin clumps are slow to spread and grow, and is slightly hardy.
When mature, emerald oval-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early winter to release dozens of spores.
