Orange-Yellow Climber

This enormous bine is a very slow growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 1,674 feet (510.2 meters) and growing as high as 232 feet (70.7 meters).

It takes 13 years for the orange-yellow stems to mature, by which point they each have a diameter of 2.3 feet (69 cm) and are smooth and waxy.

The very narrow and elongated, sticky leaves reach up to 3.8 feet (1.2 meters) in length. They are olive on the sides and black at the center, and have irregular edges.

During late spring, the bine produces handfuls of small pastel purple flowers, and during the mid-summer, after flowering, it produces a modest amount of tiny seed pods.
