Several tiny flowers grow along the length of the stem. The flowers are 1 cm (0.4 inches) wide, with solid aquamarine petals and an olive central disk. The flower head is made up of 10 petals in raised layers. They are hardy.

It has an intense scent that smells like new books, and it has an average amount of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.

The leaves are high in natural sugars.
