Bluefruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 54 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a thick, curved trunk covered in very thick, wrinkled, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the very dense wood is black with white speckles.

The abundance of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of giant, perforated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are orange and brilliant blue.

In early spring, it produces many clusters of large, red blossoms with circular petals. They are very delicate and have the faintest scent that smells like coffee.

In mid-summer it produces tiny, C-shaped fruit. The leathery cyan skin is peel-able and salty, and the slightly crunchy brown flesh is spicy and very dry. The slate seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
