Crimson Succulent

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This enormous caudiciform grows up to 34 feet (10.4 meters) tall. The finger-like stem is red, and is dotted with small cream spines. The straight, hazel trunk can grow to as much as 34 feet (10.4 meters) in diameter at the bottom. Its burgundy branches trail down across the ground and start growing at the top the stem.

The handfuls of ripped-edged, teardrop-shaped leaves are a shade of pink-red that gradient shifts to white at the top. They are rigid, but detach easily.

It is steady-growing, taking 7 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with each petal a slightly different shade of pastel yellow grow at the top, reappearing after 8 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of 28 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight cup. It has an intense scent that smells like perfume.

The caudiciform's skin is nearly impenetrable, the aquamarine flesh is rubbery, and the olive sap is thin.
