Waterstem Oak

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This large tree grows up to 66 meters (216.5 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 404 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, curved trunk covered in waxy, gray bark, and inside, the very light wood is light brown.

The small handful of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with small amounts of fuzzy, small, pleated leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are moss green with purple tips.

In late summer it forms large, red aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
