Black Petal

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for around 42 years. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many wide, angular stems covered in paper-thin, smooth, brown-green speckled bark, and the wood inside is pale brown-grey.

The branches trail down towards the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with handfuls of miniature, asymmetrical, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are generally black, delicate and waxy.

In mid-spring it produces thick bunches of medium-sized, intense orange flowers with oval-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a fairly strong scent that smells like musk.
