Violetberry

This giant fruit tree grows up to 66 feet (20.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 53 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, angular trunk covered in thick, wrinkled, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is light brown.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with thick bunches of miniature, circular leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are gold and brown.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of tiny, peach blossoms with perforated petals. They are very delicate and have a delicate scent that smells like meat.

In mid-autumn it produces tiny, circular fruit. The rubbery light brown skin is tough and edible when cooked; it is sweet, and the crunchy violet flesh is sweet and dry. The slate seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.
