Amberberry

This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 37 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in fine, knobbly, dark green bark, and inside, the hard wood is light brown.

The excessive amount of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with large amounts of small, spear shaped leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are faded green with white tips.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of large, amber blossoms with 5 kidney-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have a fairly strong scent that smells like pepper.

In late summer it produces small, long, tapering fruit. The leathery washed-out yellow skin is delicate and sweet and spicy, and the crunchy violet flesh is bitter and oily. The dark red seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.
