Bronze

Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.9 feet (58 cm) tall. Its green stems grow in bunches of 4 and are very thin and straight, and the small, lime green leaves are 3 pointed with wavy edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

A single small flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 22 cm (8.7 inches) wide, with hazel petals on the lower layer and washed-out red petals decorated with bronze dots on the inner layer. The central disk is cyan. The flower head is shaped like a tube with 48 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. They are hardy.

It has a mildly strong scent that smells like lavender, and it has a fair amount of pollen. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by a small species of bird.

The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
It grows well in the sun and full shade.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
