Blood Red Spine Cactus

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This big cactus grows up to 72 feet (21.9 meters) tall. It splits partway up the body to form 2 asymmetrical stems. Each stem is moss green, and is covered in large amounts of fine, blood red, hair-like spines. The wedge-shaped body is silver, and is covered in handfuls of rigid washed-out yellow spines.

It is quick growing, taking 5 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are either violet or sky blue, with a yellow center grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of 39 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight star. It has an intensely strong scent that smells like marzipan.

The cactus's skin is thin, the cyan flesh is smooth, and the blue sap is thin.

It blooms only at night.
All parts of the moss are edible.
It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
