Bluefruit Tree

This giant fruit tree grows up to 47 feet (14.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 53 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, twisting trunk covered in thin, rough, brown-green bark, and inside, the flexible wood is gray.

The numerous branches trail down to the ground and are covered with large amounts of large, 7 pointed leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are solid light blue or peach, with dark grey streaks.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of small, cyan blossoms with 7 triangular shaped petals. They fall easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like cheap aftershave.

In early winter it produces small, cuboid fruit. The smooth dark grey skin is thick and inedible, and the crunchy black flesh is bitter and very dry. The hazel seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
