Orange Spine Succulent

This short leaf succulent grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall. The very thick stem is orange, and is covered in thick sheets of flexible bright orange spines. The thick leaves are brown and magenta. Large amounts of them grow on narrow, yellow or violet branches that are short, thin and wispy. The leaves are resilient, and do not detach easily.

It is steady-growing, taking 5 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with solid caramel petals decorated with pink dots and a black central disk grows at the top, reappearing once every 6 years. The flower head is largely flat with dozens of raised round-tipped petals. It has an overpowering scent that smells like warm milk.

The leaf succulent's skin is tough, the slate flesh is smooth, and the dull blue sap is thin.
